Early Buds for Main Crop Figs. 7.6.2021
They say it takes about 100 days from bud to ripe fig. That depends on variety, weather, and other conditions. For the most part, it's just wait and see now. This is "Smith" fig.
Does this variety ripen you in ground without any shuffling or potted greenhouse? i heard this is a good variety but there isn't much info about its ripening timeframe for pnw.
Kim, Smith isn't the best choice for our climate. i don't usually get many from this variety. I do much better with Lattarula, King, Carini, and Hardy Chicago. This tree is in the ground, about 8 years old. When it does bear, they are exceptionally good. This year having had a hot spell end early Spring, maybe it will do better.
