First Apple Blossoms. Redlove Era and Urban Apple Tasty Red

These are the earliest apple blossoms so far.  I have not checked down the hill.  Maybe there are some there too.

Urban Apple Tasty Red

Redlove Calypso.  Almost blooming.

Redlove Era.  These surprised me.

    Good morning, Daniel!

As always, i'm in awe of your gardening and "homesteading" accomplishments. I wish i had half your energy!

About honeybees: I'm super curious - Did that swarm you captured survive the winter?

    Cheers for now,

    Barb

  2. Hi Barb,
Thank you for your nice comment!
Unfortunately, that swarm did not make it through the winter. I fed them, but at some point they disappeared. I thought about buying a new colony, but it's expensive. So, any bees around here now are just visitors.

Oh drat. I'm so sorry to hear this. I had high hopes! Maybe another will move in. Fingers crossed.

We ended up with a lot of deadouts this Spring as well, although we hope to make at least a few survivor splits if its a strong season. We shall see!

In any case, happy 2021, and may it be a better year for us all.
