I like how there is no exposed cut wood if the match is good on the whip and tongue. It probably doesn't hurt to have some exposed in cleft grafting, but I have the time and enjoy the challenge of whip and tongue. You are right about practice. I don't know if I would like medlars. They had some medlar scion at the propagation fair, and after thinking about it, I didn't get any. Let me know how your buds do!<br />It's interesting that an apple from Quebec would even grow in California. Its also called"Snow" and I've grafted in my home garden this yr. Cleft graft is much faster for me if I have to do the whip and tongue will take me hrs and physically harder. I guess its all practice make perfect, the more you do the more and easier it gets. You can graft a Medlar on your Hawthorn. I am so relieved that the plums took for the first time because in the front yard I only have 1 plum and need a pollinator desperately. I think whip and tongue is a game changer but not all scion can be grafted that way. I've also budded this time but too soon to tell if it works or not. lancehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03657961543274999017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29834831.post-9112509777147381152017-03-21T19:55:22.993-07:002017-03-21T19:55:22.993-07:00Wow!
